- The cast of BAT BOY THE MUSICAL will be performing at the Change for Kids 4th Annual Talent Extravaganza Benefit at the legendary Studio 54 Theater and Nightclub on Monday, November 5. Reception begins at 7:00 p.m., followed by performances beginning at 8:30. Expected to appear are Stanley Tucci, Steve Buscemi, David Wain, Frank Waley, Janeane Garofalo, MTV VJ Brian McFayden, Catherine Malandrino, Top IMG Models - Liya Kebede, Amy Lemon and more. Also performing are the casts of Cabaret and Love, Janis, plus the Alvin Ailey Dance Troupe, and more. Studio 54 is located at 254 West 54th Street, between Broadway and 8th Avenue. - Members of the BAT BOY cast will be making the following personal appearances this week:
Saturday, July 14, 2001 - Broadway Barks, hosted by Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters, to raise awareness about animals in shelters. 3:30-6:30 p.m. at Shubert Alley between 44th and 45th Street, just off of Broadway.
Wednesday, July 18, 2001 - Off-Broadway Ticket Information Center ("OBTIC") grand opening. 1:00 p.m. at the OBTIC booth, 251 West 45th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue.
And don't forget Broadway at Bryant Park (see July 4 news) on July 19 at 12:40 and 1:45 p.m.!
All of the aforementioned events are open to the public.

- The BAT BOY cast will appear at Jammin' 105's "Broadway at Bryant Park" summer concert series on Thursday, July 19. That day's lineup will include long-running Broadway shows Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera. The BAT BOY cast will be performing at 12:40 and 1:45 p.m.
The Broadway at Bryant Park concert series runs from July 5 through August 23 every Thursday from noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Bryant Park Stage located between 42nd and 43rd Street (off Sixth Avenue). Other shows scheduled during the summer include Rent, tick, tick...BOOM!, Aida, The Full Monty, Kiss Me, Kate, Beauty and the Beast, and others.

- Deven May is among 14 actors who have been chosen to receive 2001 Theatre World Awards. The Theatre World Awards honor actors making their New York or Broadway stage debuts. Its eight-member committee includes Clive Barnes of the New York Post, Peter Filichia of the Star Ledger and Theatre.com, Harry Haun of Playbill, Frank Sheck of the Hollywood Reporter, Michael Sommers of the Newhouse Newspapers, Douglas Watt of the Daily News and Linda Winer of Newsday. Now in its 57th year, the Theatre World Awards will be handed out on May 14 at Studio 54.

Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Actor in a Musical (Deven May), Outstanding Actress in a Musical (Kaitlin Hopkins), Outstanding Director of a Musical (Scott Schwartz), Outstanding Book of a Musical (Keythe Farley, Brian Flemming), Outstanding Music (Laurence O'Keefe), Outstanding Lyrics (Laurence O'Keefe), and Outstanding Set Design of a Musical (Richard Hoover, Bryan Johnson). The Drama Desk Awards honor excellence both on and off Broadway. The awards ceremony will take place on May 20 at the F.H. LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center and televised live on NY1 News, and repeated on May 25 on Channel 13.

- The BAT BOY Company received a nomination for the Drama League Award for Distinguished Production of a Musical. The Drama League Awards, honoring excellence on and off Broadway, will be hosted by The Dinner Party star Henry Winkler at a luncheon on May 11 in the Grand Hyatt Hotel.

- Congratulations to the BAT BOY Company for receiving a nomination for the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical. This season is the 51st Anniversary of the Outer Critics Circle. The winners will be announced on Monday, April 30, and the annual awards ceremony will be held on May 24 at Sardi's.

- The BAT BOY Company has received four nominations for the Lucille Lortel Awards, honoring Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway: Best Musical, Best Actor (Deven May), Best Choreography (Christopher Gattelli), and Best Costumes (Fabio Toblini). Winners will be announced April 23, and the awards ceremony will take place at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on May 7. The evening will be hosted by Design for Living star Alan Cumming.

- The bat has officially landed! BAT BOY THE MUSICAL had its hugely successful opening on March 21. Couldn't be there in person? Fly on over to the Media section to check out the opening night photos. Still not convinced? The Press section should have all the proof you need--this bat is a hit! And finally, if you need to brush up on some of that Bat History 101, the Story section should clue you in.
The e-mails and requests have been pouring in--when can we all take Bat Boy home on CD? Well, here's your answer: the cast will be heading into the recording studio on April 9 to make the official cast recording! The CD will be released on June 5 by RCA. Mark your calendars!
